Recently, Niles Steel Tank underwent a number of major changes. This most far-reaching of these was the relocation to a new, larger manufacturing facility. Our new location dramatically increases our manufacturing space to an impressive 110,000 sq. ft. An additional 11,000 sq. ft. of office space completes the NST complex.

In addition to skylights, sodium vapor lighting provides substantial illumination throughout the large workspace. A large midway corridor runs the entire width of the building. This corridor features a 35' ceiling height. This allows us to manufacture larger tanks than we could in the old location.

Overhead cranes are spaced strategically throughout the manufacturing area, the largest of which have a capacity of up to 20 tons. This again increases our ability to manufacture and manipulate larger tanks than our previous capabilities and infrastructure allowed.

Second only to the building itself, the new NST furnace is our biggest recent capital investment. Our "State of the art" furnace is capable of maintaining a desired temperature set-point well within the acceptable firing range of Niles Steel Shield™. Temperature readings are continuously monitored and fed to the control system. Even the slightest variation in temperature will be monitored and corrected. This assures the temperature uniformity necessary for proper curing and fusion between the glass and the steel substrate throughout the entire firing process.

The Niles furnace is capable of processing up to an 84" diameter x 192" long vessel and can also quickly change to a monorail system for high volume through put. If operating in the continuous feed mode, the vessels are suspended from the rail and have a size limit of 84" diameter x 132" long.

Niles Steel Shield™ and Ultonium™ glass linings are the latest Niles Steel Tank innovations. Steel Shield™ has shown superior performance, longer life, higher resistance to abrasion and superior better mechanical properties. Each batch of Steel Shield™ is monitored for purity, conformity and quality before it is allowed into production. Ultonium™ is a durable proven performer used in water storage applications.
